Startup Ecosystem in Turkey Continues to Break Records

According to Startups.watch data, while technology startups received $1.5 billion in investment throughout 2021, the total investment agreement exceeded $1.3 billion before the first 3 months of this year.

E-commerce, game and software initiatives such as Getir, Spyke, DreamGames and Midas took the lead. Speaking at the event held under the title of "It's Time for Entrepreneurship" by Ventures60, GEN Turkey Chairman of the Board Nevzat Aydın explained the change in the entrepreneurship ecosystem as follows:

"When I started my entrepreneurial adventure 20 years ago, there was no mentor. If I had only listened to people with more experience in the business World when I have started the company; I would have sold the company 3-4 years later. But we acted a bit recklessly. There was no word of entrepreneurship. I used to say 'I run my own business.' A lot has changed today. There are both domestic and global funds. Now young people prefer to be entrepreneurs rather than working in multinational companies. Now they are in the entrepreneurship and incubation centers of universities. There are hundreds of initiatives that support them. More importantly, they have role models in front of them."

Saying that despite all this, Turkey still does not receive as much investment as it deserves, Aydın said that this year we have risen 5 steps and ranked 44th.
