Dünyanın en uzun boylu kadını olan ve Guinness Rekorlar Kitabı’nda bulunan 2 metre 15 santimetre boyundaki weaver sendromlu Rumeysa Gelgi’nin ABD’ye uçtu. Ömründe ilk defa uçakla yolculuk yapacak olan Gelgi’nin San Francisco’ya sedye vasıtasıyla yatarak uçacak. Boyu ve rahatsızlıkları sebebiyle sedye ve refakatçi yardımıylarıyla seyahat etme mecburiyeti olan Rumeysa Gelgi, Türk Hava Yolları (THY) desteğiyle ABD’ye gidebilmek için İstanbul Havalimanı’na geldi. 2 metre 15 cm boyunda ve dünyanın en uzun kadını olarak Guinness Rekorlar kitabına giren Gelgi, 13 saat uçuş sürecek olan ABD’ye yolculuğunu sedye ile gerçekleştirecek.
Hayatında ilk defa uçakla seyahat etmenin heyecanı içerisinde bulunduğunu ifade eden Rumeysa Gelgi, “Öncelikle çok fazla heyecan içerisindeyim. Bu benim için ilk uçak seyahatim ayrıca ilk yurt dışına çıkışım olacak. Ancak bu seyahat yalnızca benim için değil, birçok kişi için bir ilk olacak. Çünkü sedye ile seyahat etme seçeneği yalnızca önemli hastalığı bulunan, yoğun bakımdan yoğun bakıma giden hastalar için geçerli bir seçenek.

Expressing that he was excited to travel by plane for the first time in his life, Rumeysa Gelgi said, “First of all, I am very excited. This will be my first plane trip and also my first abroad trip. However, this trip will be a first for many people, not just me. Because the option of traveling with a stretcher is only valid for patients with significant illness and going from intensive care to intensive care.
