Graphics Card Industry Couldn't Overcome Problems

With the production problems of the chip crisis after the global epidemic, the costs of graphics cards have increased, while video card prices have doubled in foreign currency compared to 2020. GPU shipment data published by Jon Peddie Research company explains the situation in the graphics card industry. According to the research, there is a 38% contraction in the shipments of computer graphics cards by 2022. However, shipments in September, October, November, and December of 2022 decreased by approximately 16% compared to the same months in 2021. Based on 2021, 2022, and 2023 years, the total shipping including all video card types has decreased by 38%, while there is a decrease of 24% for desktop graphics cards and 43% for laptops. These data are a big drop for the computer hardware industry, which peaked in 2011.

According to another study, AMD and Nvidia brand graphics card prices have nearly doubled with all hardware components.
To examine all these price increases by making a brand distinction, it is seen that while the sales share of the AMD brand is 0.4%, the place of the NVIDIA brand in the sales ratio has increased by 0.68% and the Intel brand has decreased by 1.1%.
In light of current sales and shipment data, the decline seems to continue in January, February, March, and April of 2023. This decrease is expected to be approximately 6.44%.
Considering the year 2023 and the following years, the graphics card industry is expected to grow, albeit not very large. Between the years 2022-2026, there is a growth acceleration of about 0.20%, especially for graphics cards. However, it is seen among the calculations that the use of independent GPUs will approach about 32%.
