 Public Relations and Publicity Program Students watched the movie “Muslüm” and discussed the artist branding process


Istanbul Gelisim University Public Relations and Publicity Program students watched the movie "Muslüm", which has made the agenda in the society with its box office success in recent days. After the cinema event, the artist branding process and the criteria of being a member of the society were discussed over the film and views were exchanged.


As the Public Relations and Publicity program, a movie was chosen within the scope of cultural events this year, as it is every year, and we went to the cinema to watch this movie. Last year, the movie “The Greatest Showman” was watched and public relations models, press agency model representative P. T. Barnum and public relations practices were discussed. This year, the turning points in the life of Müslüm Gürses until he reached today's recognition were discussed by taking the biography of an artist who became a social asset through the movie "Muslüm" directed by Ketche and Can Ulkay.
 
Since one of the important elements of the sociological structure of a society is the popular and widespread type of music, the arabesque music culture that developed within the history of the country was examined based on the life of Müslüm Gürses, one of the important representatives of this culture. After the exchange of ideas on the phenomenon of Müslüm Gürses and the process of being known as “Muslim Baba” among the “immigrant” segment, who migrated from the village to the city in the 1950s, living away from their geography and culture, Adorno's concepts of popular culture and mass culture were integrated into Turkish culture. The event was ended after the evaluation of the film.
