Istanbul Gelisim University students and academic and administrative staff joined hands for our earthquake-affected citizens, whose epicenter was Kahramanmaraş and who were affected by the earthquake disaster that caused great destruction in 10 provinces.
Two major earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, in the morning and at noon, caused great destruction. A state of emergency was declared in earthquake regions where many deaths and injuries occurred. In the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, which was the second biggest earthquake in the last century, the members of Istanbul Gelişim University helped to heal the wounds of the earthquake together.
Since the first day of the earthquake, the members of our university continue to help our earthquake victims with support campaigns. Both our students and academic and administrative staff provided assistance in kind for urgent needs such as blankets, tents, diapers, food, feminine hygiene kits, winter boots, coats, scarves, berets, gloves, ready-made food, canned food, food parcels. Blood donations were made in our Red Crescent centers. In addition, a team of 300 students, consisting of our students, worked continuously in 3 different kitchens; It produced more than 22 thousand sandwiches. The sandwiches produced were packaged to be delivered to earthquake zones by adding the expiry date on them. In-kind donations collected and sandwiches produced were delivered to our earthquake victims through the Red Crescent.
