 Museum Gazhane, A Climate Museum

Hasanpaşa Gazhanesi was established in 1892 in order to meet the energy needs of the Anatolian Side. Due to the fact that it did not meet the current need and the use of natural gas became widespread, it was liquidated in 1993 and added to the city life as a public space in 2021.
In the project implemented today, the two buildings of Gazhane were opened to visitors in 2023 as the "Climate Museum". An exhibition space has been created, centered on the climate crisis, the impact of which we have often felt lately.
General Approach of the Museum
In the museum structures of Hasanpaşa Gazhanesi, the gas factory that obtained energy from fossil fuels when it was opened; The Climate Museum, which covers the climate crisis, the human-induced causes of the crisis and its devastating consequences. The exhibition is spread over two buildings in total. Gazhane, which was a factory structure that used fossil fuels in its time, creates a ground for self-criticism in this process.
Engaging in awareness and advocacy for the climate crisis, the Museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the realities of climate, enabling them to face the devastating consequences.
The Climate Museum, which is positioned to work in integration with the workshop and activity areas in the new function scheme of the building, provides an opportunity for visitors, researchers and activists to come together. It emphasizes the importance of community participation and cooperation in tackling the climate crisis.
Exhibition Design
In addition to the vertical furnace buildings of Gazhane, the gas cleaning buildings built in the same period are machine structures in which large machines, pipes and strainers are located.
The exhibition design approach was created by touching the existing structures, the machines and the pedestals in the structures at the minimum point. With this approach, a flexible exhibition design approach has been developed that creates its own carrier system, circulates the entire building, provides information spaces and interactive exhibitions required by the content and scenario, and can be produced and assembled quickly.
