 Energy Saving Apartment in Barcelona

The project of the effectively insulated apartment, designed as nested rooms inspired by matryoshka dolls, was made by the Spanish architectural office Takk.
The apartment, which is designed to be sustainable with an area of 50 m², is called a 10,000' house (10K HOUSE). The project, which was renovated by the Takk Architecture office using only a material budget of 10,000 Euros, was designed as a response to the global energy crisis and climate crisis concerns faced by the residents.
Arranged along an open floor mimicking the layers of an onion, the rooms are built within one another, placing the rooms with the most heat needed in the center.
According to the architects of the residence, which was designed for a single client, the project became a kind of labyrinth that multiplies perspectives. The recycled table legs used to elevate the rooms allowed the water and electrical installations to move freely without creating grooves in the wall. In this case, it reduced the total cost. Appropriate and useful materials are used in the bedroom, which is positioned in the center. It is covered with MDFs covered with local sheep wool plates.
After the Takk architectural office demolished the existing interior layout of the flat, instead of applying coatings with a high carbon footprint, they gave the flat a raw impression by preserving the traces left by the cleaned old dividers after disassembly and by making the connections of the removed lighting fixtures visible. The kitchen area of the residence consists of a wooden geometric cabinet and an exposed metallic washbasin. Aiming to be removed from being a space associated with gender, this space aims to break down the stereotypes about housework.
The interior works of the house, which is an incentive to the "do it yourself" concept, were mounted using standard screws during the assembly prepared before the construction site. A small instruction manual is left to allow the user to assemble parts of the flat.
