The reason of the crash which started at 18:40 on Tuesday, 05.10.2021 and lasted for about 7 hours on Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook platforms was declared by Santosh Janardhan (Facebook Inc.):
The crash which caused an outage in accessing messaging services and social media platforms is not due to the "stealing of user data" as claimed by many news sites, instead it reveals that it is caused by an incorrect configuration operation.
