The Problem of Gender Inequality has Deepened with the Pandemic
In this period when the whole world is struggling with economic uncertainties, women's employment is more negatively affected than the pandemic period. The World Economic Forum presented the number of years required to achieve gender equality as 99.5 years in its 2020 report. In the 2021 report, this period is announced as 135.6 years.
More women than men around the world have lost their jobs or have to make a choice and leave their jobs because of their care responsibilities. According to the March 2021 data of the World Labor Organization, 5 percent of women and 3.9 percent of men lost their jobs in 2020 or their working hours were reduced due to the pandemic.
