 WORLD VEGAN DAY

World Vegan Day celebrated on November 1.

World Vegan Day has been celebrated on November 1 every year since 1994 to raise public awareness of animal rights and freedoms, and to ensure the widespread adoption of vegan understanding and lifestyle for well-being of animals, people and the world.
The word ‘vegan’ was first used by Donald Watson, the founder of the Vegan Association in Turkey. In the vegan type of diet, which literally means being against the consumption of animal products, individuals do not consume animal origin food and only consume plant origin food. Some individuals who accept the concept of vegan nutrition do not even consume chocolate because of the honey and milk in it.
Vegan nutrition is divided into three according to the application types. These are ravists, fruitarians, and zenmacrobiotics.
Rawests: This group of people advocate that food should be consumed without cooking. They believe that if it is cooked, the nutritional value of the food will decrease.
Fruitarians: Individuals in this group eat only fruit. They also eat cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes and peppers, which can be considered botanically fruitful.
Zenmacrobiotics: Individuals in this group consume vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes.
While nutrition with a vegan diet provides an advantage in terms of reducing chronic diseases such as low cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and reducing the risk of obesity and cancer types, deficiencies can be observed in terms of protein, calcium, iron, zinc, B12, D vitamins, fatty acids and iodine. People who adopt this diet should receive medical or dietetic counseling suitable for vegan diets.
