 Interview with Vegan Academy


The increasing interest in veganism in response to the unethical actions against animals, especially in industrial production with the climate problems and food insecurity has revealed that our students, as the Cookery program, should pay close attention to this issue.


The increasing interest in veganism in response to the unethical actions against
animals, especially in industrial production with the climate problems and food insecurity
has revealed that our students, as the Cookery program, should pay close attention to this
issue.
The coordinator and general secretary of the Gastronomy and Cookery Departments,
Ass. Prof. Dr. Serdar ÇÖP; Assistant Director of Vocational School, Lecturer Fehim İLHAN and
Head of Cookery Program, Lecturer Zeynep TÜRMEN participated the event organized by a
lecturer of Cookery Program, Lecturer Kader Parlak.
The event was held with the participation of Ebru ARIMAN, the director of V-Label
International Turkey, the Founder President of Vegan Association Turkey, and the editor of
Veg& Nature magazine and Prof. Dr. Hakan Şentürk from Bezmialem University Hospital
Internal Diseases Department in order to convey the ethical and philosophical structure of
veganism which is envisaged as the lifestyle of the future as well as its health benefits. At
the end of the participants' presentations, our students asked what they were wondering
about the vegan lifestyle. Our participants also conveyed what they expect from future chefs
as a vegan.
A certificate of appreciation was presented to our participants for their contributions.
