A SCIENTIFIC WHO DEVOTES His LIFE TO HIS COUNTRY AND SCIENCE
PROF. DR. MUSTAFA INAN
(1911-1967)
He was born in Adana in 1911, in the middle of the first world war. Although she had a very difficult life, none of these challenges could get in the way of her passion for teaching and learning. Actually, a mechanic, Mustafa İnan graduated from the Engineering School, that is, today's Istanbul Technical University, with the first place. In 1938, he went to Zurich with a state scholarship and started his doctoral studies at the Zurich Eidgenösssiche Technische. When he completed his education in Zurich in 1941, he not only received the title of doctor, but also earned the title of the first Turkish scientist to do a doctorate abroad.
Instead of working in the private sector, he devoted his life to the state and education that brought him to today. He should be a teacher, train new students and pay his debt to the state in this way. With these thoughts, he was promoted to professor in 1945. Until 1954, he was the chairman of the Chair of Mechanics. He served as the dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering between 1954-56 and the rector of the Technical University between 1957-59.
Mustafa İnan was awarded the TÜBİTAK Service Award in 1971. Today, Prof.Dr. to the library of Istanbul Technical University. It was named after Mustafa Inan.
The books of our teacher Mustafa; Today, it is still taught to the students of the Construction Department in both vocational schools and faculties. For us Prof. Dr. Mustafa Inan is a leader and guide in our department for our education, and a great resource that guides us with his books and articles.
On the 51st anniversary of his death, we commemorate him with respect and mercy.
