The LEED Certification system was developed by the American Green Buildings Council (USGBC) and is one of the leading green building certification systems in the world and in Turkey. The “Galataport Istanbul” project was awarded the LEED Platinum certificate thanks to the construction technologies used and environmentally friendly practices.
Galataport Istanbul which was established on an area of 112.000 m
2 has a 1.2 km coastline. Galataport Istanbul that is among the most important projects in the world aims to raise green building standards to the highest level. Mechanical devices cooling with sea water, systems providing energy efficiency and water efficiency were carried out. In addition, materials produced in local and close to site facilities were preferred to reduce carbon emissions from transportation throughout the environmentally friendly construction works.
