Construction Technology Program 1-7 March Earthquake Week

The earthquake, which has caused great suffering and loss throughout our history, draws attention in our country every year with the 1-7 March Earthquake Week. This week, which focuses on earthquake preparedness and what to do after the earthquake, special events are held in all public and non-governmental organizations, especially in schools. In addition to the measures taken by public institutions, it is necessary to raise the awareness of our citizens and take the necessary measures to prevent loss of life.

One of the simple but vital measures that can be taken for an earthquake;

Before the Earthquake
Preparing earthquake disaster and emergency kit
Making an earthquake emergency plan with family members, implementing it, keeping it up to date
Learning and practicing the Crash-Track-Hold movements
Determining the closest emergency meeting place to you from e-Government
Fixing items that could tip over during an earthquake
In particular, not allowing any intervention on structural elements such as load-bearing columns and beams of your building.

During the Earthquake
Find a safe place and Kneel down on your knees, CLOSE to protect your head and neck, HOLD on a stable place to avoid falling.
Do not run towards building exits and stairs.
If you are outdoors, stay away from buildings, power lines, and potentially collapsed structures or trees.
If you are driving on the road, stay away from structures that are likely to collapse, such as crossings, bridges, electricity poles, and pull to the right in a safe place.

After the Earthquake
When you are sure of your safety after the shaking, leave the building carefully and quickly.
Do not use flammable materials (e.g. vanity, lighter). Do not touch the electrical switches (buttons).
If you are on the coast, go to high places for possible tsunami danger.
Support babies, children, the elderly, disabled and pregnant women who may need help.
Heed all warnings from authorized institutions.
Leave avenues and streets empty for emergency aid.

Remember!

Earthquakes don't kill. He did not receive the right engineering service. Buildings that are not used with the right building material will kill.
