Punta Della Dogana, Venedik
Its foundation as a customs house was built by the 17th-century architect Giuseppe Benoni by forcing long wooden piles into the sand beneath the water. It continued to serve as a customs facility until 1980. It started to be used as an exhibition area in 2009.
