The following applications can be performed with the use of the computer that will be located at the station:
-Remote control of the radio device (using RF – Radio Frequency technology), setting the receiving sending frequency and similar parameters, (selecting the frequency band, determining the voltage / current value and phase angle of the signal, for example.)
-Calculation of the doppler frequency shifts that are required at the receiver and transmitter frequencies (no matter how stable the electronic circuit elements are, there are necessarily frequency shifts. Even if a crystal is used) and its application to receiver/transmitter frequencies,
-Calculation of the birth and sinking times of the satellite's position in the sky relative to the Earth using Keppler components, (In the sense of being able to be monitored and not monitored from the relevant region.)
-Orientation of antenna components in accordance with the calculated satellite positions, (for example, determining the diameter if a satellite antenna is to be used, at what angle it will be positioned, the number of reflectors if a dipole antenna is to be used, their length and placement distances, etc.).)
-Decoding of telemetry signals with decoder/ encoder software (normally encrypted broadcasting is used if the satellite is performing a strategic mission or is going to provide a service for money) and/ or operating terminal components for modem software,
-Keeping station records (log). (Recording of the operations performed within a certain period of time and thus storing everything that is applied and done until the satellite is even before the launch as a file in the software sense.)
Although very powerful computers are preferred to perform the above operations, there is no need. With a computer that can run MS Windows, the requirement can be met with excess. But “real-time operating systems” are used in spacecraft and combat aircraft.
Which Software Is Needed?
The software used extensively in satellite communication studies is as follows:
Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) (Windows)
Gpredict (Winodws, Mac, Linux)
Nova (Windows)
SatPC32 (Windows)
Orbitron (Windows)
