After the earthquake that shook our country deeply and caused deep pain and sadness, many telecommunication companies have mobilized in the light of the fact that communication is especially important in earthquake regions and that thanks to this communication, many citizens contribute to their struggle for survival. Türksat, one of these companies, sent 750 satellite communication terminals and Wi-Fi devices to the earthquake region with this sensitivity.
On February 6, 2023, we witnessed two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6, which caused deep wounds in more than 10 provinces in the Southeastern Anatolia region of our country, and with deep sorrow. After the destruction caused by this natural disaster, the search and rescue activity, in which both citizens of all sectors and all ages and aid teams from many nationalities participated, was initiated, and is still continuing. In this context, Türksat plays a role in healing this wound by sending many satellite communication terminals to the region affected by the earthquake.
As this natural disaster took place in the world press on the first day, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk offered to deliver Starlink satellite communication terminals to the earthquake area as a proposal, but these suggestions were not accepted. With this situation, Türksat company stated that their current capacity is sufficient.
It was stated that currently there are 250 satellite communication terminals in the relevant region and 500 more will be transmitted to that region. Again, it is stated by the company that 500 Wi-Fi access devices are in the shipping phase.
