Countries in Transition to Electric Cars

The transition to fully electrically driven vehicles could shift the balance of power in the automotive industry worldwide. The fact that China is the sole power in all-electric vehicle batteries and has a 56% share in this market makes Europe and the USA worry.

The extraordinary transformation experienced in the world automotive industry for the transition to fully electric powered vehicles will increase the need of Western countries, first of all, European countries, to China and Asian countries in one area.

Automotive Sector executives are concerned that all-electric drive vehicle batteries may become an addiction in the future of the automotive industry around the world, as the level of geopolitical tension is increasing, and the supply chains are trying to be restructured in the world economy.

According to the news of some news websites, the all-electric vehicle battery market volume, which was seventeen billion dollars in 2019, is growing with the same momentum in line with the targets of eliminating the sales of vehicles powered by fossil fuels.

In an analysis conducted by Benchmark Minerals, a data analytics company specialized in lithium-ion electric batteries in the electric vehicle market, it is predicted that the future of the automobile industry in European countries, which is Turkey's important export market in the automotive industry, will be dominated by Chinese-origin battery manufacturers.

In this analysis made by the Financial Times, it is thought that the European automotive sector, which has been the world center of fossil-based internal combustion engine production for a long time, will lose dominance in the electrification process to China due to its power in batteries, and according to SNE Research forecast data, it will reach a size of 95 billion dollars by 2028.

Since the People's Republic of China is relatively behind in creating an engine industry that can compete with European countries and the United States in its domestic automotive sector, this power in fully electric drive vehicles seems to change some balances in the automotive industry around the world.

The People's Republic of China, which is by far the leader of the electric battery market, is trying to prepare itself as the most important battery manufacturer in the world and to ensure its continuity.

According to the data and forecasts of Benchmark Minerals analysts, it is predicted that the People's Republic of China will have a production volume of 332 gigawatts/hour (gwh) in Europe by 2031, and with this volume, it will become the largest electric battery producer in Europe.
