Famous artist Damcıoğlu suddenly fell ill at İzmir Bakırçay University Çiğil Training and Research Hospital for physical therapy. The veteran artist, who was taken to the intensive care unit urgently after he became ill, died due to heart failure despite all the interventions. So, who is Nurhan Damcıoğlu?
He was born on August 29, 1941, in Adana. His father ran an open-air cinema and his mother worked as a tailor in state operas. Damcıoğlu started the children's department of the General Directorate of State Theaters with the initiatives of his mother. The veteran artist was only 9 years old when he started the theater. The artist, who received ballet education as well as theater education, worked at the Radio Kids Club for nine years. When he was 16, he was now an actor in the State Theatre. He came to Istanbul in 1965 with the guidance of the famous artist Cüneyt Gökçer. He worked in Istanbul, Ayfer Feray, Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar, Muammer Karaca Theater, and Mücap Ofluoğlu ensemble. Damcıoğlu listened to the first canto from Toto Karaca, mother of famous artist Cem Karaca, and sang canto songs for the first time in 1969 with the encouragement of Mücap Ofluoğlu.
