Within the scope of the project, four books were sung by the students and the audio library for the visually impaired was donated to GETEM. During the research phase of the project, survey studies were conducted on the awareness of visual impairment of Istanbul Gelişim University students. All research; Under the leadership of Istanbul Gelişim University, Public Relations and Social Responsibility Club advisor Assist. Prof. Emel Tozlu and Lect. Fulya Beteş, Head of Marketing and Advertising Department at Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School, her students Miray BADEM, Sultan Önder, Kürşat Yıldırım, Elif Sinem Kemeç, Hilal Aydın, Eyüp Sumeli, Elif Kici was created by Büşra Menekşe, Gökçe Gür and Kübra Ateş.
As a result of the researches, 43% of the respondents stated that they did not know about visual impairment, and 43% stated that they did not know whether visual impairment was hereditary or not. 51% of the survey participants stated that the visually impaired are excluded by the society, and 73% stated that the visual disability affects human psychology. In the research, 52% of the participants found the awareness efforts on this issue insufficient, and 83% stated that visually impaired individuals face difficulties in the society while being employed.
Based on the results of this research phase, the "Be a Thousand Eyes with One Education" seminar was organized by the Public Relations and Social Responsibility Club at the Istanbul Branch of the Six Nokta Association for the Blind. In the training given by the Vice President of the Association Hasan Günday; Information on how they can help visually impaired individuals when they encounter a social life, the importance of the computer program JAWS they use, Braille braille and the basic support of the white cane, were given. At the end of the training, a “Visually Impaired Friendly” Training Certificate was distributed to all participants.
Stating that he is extremely happy to host the students of Istanbul Gelişim University, Ziya Özdem, President of the Istanbul Branch of the Six Dots Association for the Blind, expressed his satisfaction by saying, "The only obstacle for the visually impaired is those who prevent us, but these efforts to raise awareness of our society make us happy." The event, which was open to everyone, came to an end when Istanbul Gelişim University Public Relations and Social Responsibility Club Consultant Assist. Prof. Emel Tozlu expressed his pride in his students for this beautiful project and conveyed his thanks to the President of the Association, Ziya Özdem, and presented his plaque.
