 Why Avoid Food Waste?

Why Avoid Food Waste?

When food is wasted, all resources are wasted. To prevent this, reducing food waste, helping the environment and saving the economy is an important step we can take.

We all waste food.

The reasons are different for everyone: We can either buy too much, prepare too much food, or change plans and have to throw out what's left in the fridge. The reasons may not seem like much from day to day, but when stacked, food waste is a huge problem for both the economy and the planet. Because it uses a significant amount of resources (soil, water, energy) in growing, processing and transporting food. Every food item wasted is also a wasted resource. It's up to us to make a big impact with small changes.

We can make a big difference in food waste by making small changes in the way we consume our food every day, by regulating the frequency of shopping, or by thinking that you don't consume promotional products completely, and we can help reduce climate problems in half. For example, once you know which foods you waste the most and why, you can identify simple actions you can take to prevent food waste. Among the foods that are thrown more regularly are salads, fruits and vegetables, bread, fish, meat, milk and products, potatoes, bananas and apples.

You need to be aware of what food and how much you throw away, so you'll save twice as much when you're shopping or eating, paying particular attention to those foods.
