A New Age in Healthy Eating: The Microbiome Diet

The genome, genome products, and their interaction with the environment, formed by trillions of microorganisms in our intestines, reveal the concept of the "microbiome". The gut microbiota is complex and difficult to characterize. The microbiota is closely related to many aspects of normal host physiology, from nutritional status to behavior and stress response. The gut microbiome plays an important role in human health and influences the development of chronic diseases ranging from metabolic diseases to gastrointestinal disorders to cancer. A healthy microbiome, on the other hand, affects the body holistically, from body weight control to quality sleep patterns, to physiological and psychological health. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that the microbiome is affected by the foods we consume by approximately 60%. The microbiome diet focuses on the consumption of prebiotic and probiotic foods, which are essential for healthy gut flora. Those who follow this diet consume foods such as fibrous vegetables, fruits, fermented foods such as kefir, yogurt, pickles, sauerkraut, goat's milk, whole meal bread, and whole grain products. The purpose of this diet is to develop healthy gut flora and strengthen your immune system. The Microbiome Diet may also aid weight loss. However, like any diet, this diet can have side effects. That's why it's important to consult a doctor before starting the Microbiome Diet.

The microbiome grows, evolves, takes shape with you, and sets you apart from everyone else. In this process, the more diverse the microorganisms in the microbiome and the more homogeneous this diversity, the healthier the microbiome.
