 What Does Occupational Safety Trainings Include?


The main purpose of occupational safety training is to inform the employees about occupational health and safety to ensure that the dangerous movements and situations that may cause accidents are minimized and to create a safe working environment. In addition, it is to increase the level of awareness in the field of occupational safety by telling employees about their legal rights and responsibilities.


The Importance of Occupational Safety Trainings

The main objective of the occupational safety trainings is to raise awareness of safe behavior in the participants by talking about the dangers and risks in the workplace and teaching how to take precautions against them in order to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases. According to the provisions of the "Regulation on the Procedures and Principles of Occupational Health and Safety Training of Employees" issued in 2013, obligations such as preparing training programs for employees, participation of all employees in occupational health and safety training, and providing suitable places, tools and equipment for trainings are under the responsibility of the employer.

Content of Occupational Safety Trainings

The subjects of the occupational health and safety training, which will be organized to cover all employees, are specified in the legislation. The education subjects specified in the legislation are divided into 3 parts as general, health and technical subjects.

In general topics; information on labor legislation, legal rights and responsibilities of employees, workplace cleanliness and order, legal consequences arising from work accident and occupational disease.

Among the health issues; Causes of occupational diseases, application of prevention principles and techniques, biological and psychosocial risks, first aid, harms of tobacco products and passive exposure.

Topics included in technical issues; chemical, physical and ergonomic risk factors, manual lifting and transport, glare, explosion, fire and fire protection, safe use of work equipment, working with screened tools, electrical hazards, risks and precautions, causes of work accidents and the application of protection principles and techniques, safety and health signs, use of personal protective equipment, occupational health and safety general rules and safety culture, evacuation and rescue technical issues.

In addition, it is stated in the relevant legislation that the employees are included in the training content on additional issues about the hazards and risks specific to the job they do.
