Occupational Health and Safety Training for Miners with Virtual Reality Glasses
Training started to be organized by the Aegean Mine Exporters' Association using the software and virtual reality glasses developed locally for dangerous situations in mines and dangerous behaviors that may lead to work accidents.
Thanks to the virtual reality glasses that reflect the working environment in the mines exactly and using the local software developed by Turkish engineers, the training system was put into use. With the application realized by the Aegean Mine Exporters Association, workers, engineers, and employers working in mine sites and quarries are provided with occupational health and safety training in this way. In the implementation implemented within the scope of the European Union project, the training in question continues. It is planned to inform the trainees about the hazards by reflecting on the working environment without having to go down to the mine site, to show the prohibited behaviors in the mine sites, and to express the rules to be followed with visual explanations, thus creating occupational health and safety awareness.
Thanks to the software developed with domestic resources and virtual reality glasses, separate training is planned against the dangers specific to each mine, and the companies can define the situations specific to each workplace in the system. Thanks to the training made with virtual reality glasses, it is thought that it will be beneficial for workers, engineers, and employers to be informed about the dangers before they go down to the mine site, to increase awareness of occupational health and safety, and to prevent work accidents.
