Obligation to Employ an Occupational Safety Specialist

The obligation to employ occupational safety specialists in our country has been continuing since 2013. Regardless of workplace hazard classes, all workplaces are obliged to employ occupational safety specialists.

As stated in the Workplace Hazard Classes Communiqué on Occupational Health and Safety, all workplaces are divided into hazard classes (less dangerous/dangerous/highly dangerous) according to the activity code. It is obligatory to employ an occupational safety specialist in all workplaces with 50 or more insured employees. In addition to these, it is obligatory to employ an occupational safety specialist in workplaces classified as "dangerous and very dangerous" regardless of the number of employees. The obligation to employ occupational safety specialists in "public" and "less dangerous companies with less than 50 employees" will be covered on 31/12/2023.

In addition to these, all workplaces have many obligations such as having a risk assessment report, regardless of the hazard class and number of employees, and providing occupational health and safety training to their employees. As a result of these developments, the need for occupational safety specialists for all workplaces will increase further in the coming period.
