 Obligation of Accreditation in Periodic Controls


The accreditation requirement for work equipment specified within the scope of the amendment made on February 18, 2022 in the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment will enter into force on 31/12/2023.


For Which Equipment Is Accreditation Required?

For tower cranes, LPG tanks and installations, suspended access equipment platforms and escalators, only periodic controls by accredited inspection bodies will be considered valid as of the date specified in the relevant regulation (31/12/2023). There is no accreditation requirement for other work equipment within the scope of the said regulation.

What is an Accredited Inspection Body?

It covers inspection bodies accredited by TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) according to the TS EN ISO 17020 standard. Periodic controls, which will be carried out by persons authorized to carry out periodic controls working in accredited institutions, will become mandatory after 31/12/2023. Periodic controls to be made on tower cranes, LPG tanks and installations, suspended access equipment platforms and escalators until the date specified in the relevant Regulation will continue to be carried out in accordance with Article 6 of the Communiqué on Registration and Training of Persons Authorized to Perform Periodic Controls of Work Equipment.

It is sufficient to carry out these controls by persons with a permanent registration number through the EKİP-NET system.

No accreditation is specified for other work equipment falling within the scope of the said regulation, and the periodic controls of these equipments can continue to be carried out by persons with a permanent registration number through the EKIP-NET system after the relevant date.
