Dangerous Situations in the Use of Old Type Natural Gas Devices
Since the ambient air is used in the use of old type chimneys of natural gas appliances, it contains more danger than conventional combi boilers, which do not require a chimney in the building (new type). This type of old devices, which have completed their technical life, cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
In the years when the use of natural gas was first introduced in our country, it was preferred to use old type chimney combi boilers according to the conditions of the old times. Today, new type hermetic combi boilers are preferred. Hermetic combi boilers are combi boilers that do not use ambient air and therefore do not require a common chimney in the building.
In the use of old type combi boilers, the pipe and device connections are leakproof and the pipes should be made of steel material. No connection should be made to any other chimney in the building. Alarm sensors must be in working condition when using old-style chimney devices. There should be natural gas and waste gas leak sensors. Care should be taken not to sleep in rooms with chimney combi boilers.
It is important that the maintenance of old type chimney devices is done by an authorized service. The maintenance of the device and the safety equipment on it should be done regularly. It should be noted that not using chimney devices that have completed the technical life specified by the manufacturers will cause carbon monoxide poisoning of these devices.
Houses with old type chimney combi boilers should switch to new type hermetic combi boilers and change their devices, and new type devices suitable for today's conditions should be preferred. In retrospective controls made by authorized institutions and organizations, gas usage permits are not granted for appliances with non-steel chimneys in houses using chimney combi boilers.
