It has been stated that Turkey needs capacity increases in existing ports and new mega ports in order to increase its port capacity by 2 - 2.5 times by 2050.
The Vision 2023 Report published by TÜRKLİM (Turkish Port Operators Association) in 2007 proved to be successful with consistent forecasts. Within the scope of 2050 estimations, it is predicted that the container demand in Turkey will exceed 41 million TEU and the cargo tonnage will exceed 1.3 billion tons. It is stated that the development of our ports should be within the framework of universal sustainability standards. It is shown as one of the top priority issues that the problems of the ports should be resolved as of today. The TÜRKLİM Report is followed by all relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry and is the only report written in the field of port management in Turkey.
