Maritime trade container and cargo statistics for May 2021 have been published by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.
The number of containers handled in May was 1 million 56 thousand 22 TEU, with an increase of 21.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of containers handled at the ports in the January-May period increased by 9.6 % compared to the previous year and reached at 5 million 99 thousand 938 TEU.
The amount of cargo handled at the ports was announced as 43 million 367 thousand 905 tons in May with an increase of 14.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year. The amount of cargo handled in the January-May period, on the other hand, increased by 3.5 % compared to the previous year and amounted to 212 million 404 thousand 786 tons.
