Despite the container crisis in the world, the amount of containers handled in our ports in 2021 increased by 12 million 591 TEUs by 8.3 percent compared to the previous year.
In December, the amount of containers handled compared to the previous month was announced as 1 million 80 thousand 241 TEU with an increase of 2.5 percent. Our port, which handled the most containers in 2021, was Ambarlı Port, followed by Mersin Port and Kocaeli port in second place. The most container handling in our ports is followed by the shipments made with Israel, followed by the shipments with Greece and the third place with Egypt.
The amount of cargo handled in 2021 was announced as 526 million 306 thousand tons with an increase of 6 percent. The amount of cargo handled in December increased by 8 percent compared to the previous month and was announced as 47 million 857 thousand tons.
