The transfer of containers from the ship to the trucks and trains on land is carried out with a full automation system. The first phase of the automation work, which includes 6 docks in the terminal, started in 2015 and became fully operational after 3.5 years of work. Located inside the Qingdao Port in China, the Chienwan container terminal has 5G technology and consists of vehicles and devices with data transfer and processing capacity, known as the 'internet of things'. Qingdao Port is the first fully automated container port in Asia.
