 First Quarter Record from Aliağa Ports


While the Aliağa District of İzmir, one of the largest maritime trade and logistics base regions of our country, continues to increase its place in the Turkish economy, 1,556 ships approached Aliağa Ports in the first quarter of 2023.

According to the maritime trade statistics for the first quarter of 2023, announced to the public by the Aliağa Branch of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, 1,556 ships approached Aliağa Ports between January and March of the current year, exceeding the number of 1,447 ships a year ago. With a 7% increase compared to 2022, Aliağa Port took second place after Kocaeli.
According to the data containing the loading and unloading statistics for 2023, Aliağa Port ranked first as the port with the highest amount of cargo in our country in terms of handling tonnage rates. According to the data announced, it was the only port that did not show a decrease among the top 5 ports compared to the previous year. In the first three months of 2023, 19 million 840 thousand 59 tons of cargo were handled at Aliağa Port.
Aliağa Port ranked first in container transportation statistics. Again, it maintained its status as the only port that did not show a decrease among the top 5 ports compared to the previous year. While 360 thousand 828 TEU containers were handled in the first quarter of 2022, 376 thousand 355 TEU containers were handled in the first three months of the current year with an increase of 5 percent.
