Reason for preference of potential foreign students in Turkey

International students from 182 countries are studying in the field of higher education in Turkey. The number of foreign students, which was 40 thousand 4 years ago, has reached 180 thousand. Serious studies are also carried out by higher education institutions in order to reach the target of 500 thousand.

In this sense, Abdulkadir Gayretli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), drawing attention to the increase in the number of international students in Turkey in recent years, explained the reasons why international students choose Turkey.

Drawing attention to the fact that Turkey, which is a bridge between two continents, is physically accessible, Abdulkadir Gayretli said, "However, the fact that it acts as a cultural link and bridge between Asia and Europe makes it a preferred country."

“ISTANBUL IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S ECONOMIC CENTERS”

Stating that Turkey is a center of attraction for foreign students with its cultural, historical richness and diversity, Gayretli said, "Students coming from Asia and the Middle East in particular prefer Turkey, where they can adapt more easily both religiously and culturally. In addition to these factors, the international recognition of cities such as Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, Bursa and Izmir, which are both economic centers and where job opportunities are abundant, makes Turkey one of the preferred education countries. Again, the fact that Turkey, especially Istanbul, is one of the world's economic centers, having job opportunities after graduation, and the possibility of working in international fields helps students choose Turkey as their education stop.
“THEY ARE EDUCATED AT WORLD STANDARDS”

Emphasizing that Turkey is a more economically accessible country compared to European and Western countries, Gayretli said, “While students need to allocate very high budgets in countries such as European countries, Canada and the USA for a world-class education, this budget is more affordable in Turkey. covers. In this way, they can both receive world-class education and do not face any financial difficulties.”

Stating that the framework of all these elements is currently the international education policies implemented by Turkey, Gayretli said, “Turkish Universities have the opportunity to promote internationally and carry out joint academic studies with state support and international collaborations. Thus, their recognition increases and they have the opportunity to reach students who are considering studying abroad.

NUMBER IS WANTED TO INCREASE

Stating that they help international student candidates who try to determine their preferences by comparing the opportunities offered by universities, they help clarify their preferences, Dr. Instructor Member Aysun Kaya said, “We host many international students with the 'Summer School' program we organize every year. We introduce the Turkish higher education system in the best way possible. YÖK President Prof. Dr. Our universities, which act with the importance Yetka Saraç attaches to internationalization, are on the rise by international accreditation institutions such as AQAS, AHPGS, ABET. We will further increase the number of international students reaching 180 thousand throughout Turkey.”
