New Record for Wind and Sun

We need some energy sources to make our planet a sustainable place. Renewable energy is very important for us at this point. Thanks to the investments made, renewable energy sources are also growing continuously. With each passing day, record news comes one after another. In the new report announced by the global energy organization EMBER, the share of wind and solar energy in all electrical energy sources has reached a record level.
When the data is examined, the share of these two types of energy, which has a 10% share in 2021, has reached the level of 12% in 2022 and this is a record. Looking at the first data of 2023, it is very promising to show that there will be carbon emission-free energy in the future. The main issue, stated by one of the rapporteurs, is the end of the fossil age and that this decade is very decisive for a new age.

When the 2022 data are examined, the fastest-growing energy source for 18 consecutive years has been solar energy. An incredible increase of 24% is seen on an annual basis. Wind energy is also in second place after solar, with an annual increase of 17%.
According to the report, it is stated that more than 60 countries obtain more than 10% of their electricity needs from wind and solar energy today.
The leading country in this rapid growth in China. However, despite all this progresses, based on the data of 2022, coal still stands out as the number 1 used electricity energy source with a total share of 36%.
According to the International Energy Agency, 2050 is the deadline for the carbon neutral state, which we call net zero. In this, in terms of energy resources, 2040 should be the last for carbon neutrality.
