National Missiles Fly with National Engines
Engines are very important parts for cruise missiles. Currently, 10 different countries are interested in national engines for which studies are being carried out. Our country continues to increase both the variety and quantity of national engines in this field.
Kale Group stands out in this field. Kale Group Vice President and Technical Group President Osman OKYAY stated that their company has 10 years of experience and knowledge in developing and producing turbojet engines.
Experienced manager OKYAY shared information about jet engine development. He stated that many companies generally only deal with compressor, combustion chamber and turbine, but they have developed their designs in many other sub-systems.
Emphasizing that there are no foreign components on the domestic engines they produce, OKYAY stated that all the systems on the engine were developed and produced in Turkey, and it took 10 years to do this.
He emphasized that this 10-year period would have been much shorter if some products had been completed with the method of purchasing from abroad, but this way was preferred in order not to be exposed to any embargos - sanctions.
They stated that the delivery of the 3200 newton turbojet engines, called KTJ-3200, will take place in very high numbers next year. He stated that the serial production agreement for this engine, which is planned to be used in SOM and Atmaca missiles, was made last year.
Osman OKYAY explained that they have developed 3 more engines in addition to this engine and that it will be ready for use in a new missile named Çakır in the next 1.5 years.
