Largest Offshore Wind Farm Activated
As Danish energy firm Orsted has announced that its Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm has produced its first power, this wind farm off the coast of England has been installed on an unprecedented scale. It is expected to be fully operational next year as the world's largest offshore wind farm, providing enough power for more than 1.3 million homes in the UK.
With a capacity of 1.32 GW, Hornsea 2, which has the title of "largest in the world", is located 89 km (55 miles) off the east coast of England and has 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines.
