Europe's Largest Solar Power Plant Opened

Solar power plants show very rapid growth in the world and in our country. There is a project that started in January 2020. According to the information received from Kalyon Energy, the investor of this project, Kalyon Karapınar SPP, which is the largest in Europe and one of the first in the world, is built on a 20 million square meter land.
After the solar power plant is commissioned at full capacity, it will increase the installed solar energy capacity of our country by 20 percent.
When it comes to renewable energy, there is a continuous development of solar energy, which is one of the leading sources. Along with the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) competitions, the world's first and only fully integrated solar panel factory was established. The total capacity of the power plant, which was installed with the panels produced in Kalyon Photovoltaic (PV), is 3 million 256 thousand 38 solar panels.
In the Acıgöl Basin, which is considered a renewable energy source area due to many reasons such as desertification of the basin and improper irrigation, employment opportunities are created in addition to electricity generation.

It has been the highest financial figure provided by the UK Government on a global scale for the SPP project, and the World Bank's "Sustainability Framework Standards" have been fully implemented.
The power plant, which was completed with a high investment of 1 billion dollars, was also supported by the British export credit agency. There is a locality rate of 80% in PVs. It is a power plant the size of 2,600 football fields in total. The power plant, which will produce 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, will correspond to 1% of our country's electricity capacity alone.
With this figure, an annual foreign exchange outflow of 450 million dollars will be prevented. Thanks to this power plant, 2 million tons of fossil fuel and carbon emissions will be prevented.
