“We Have a Special Responsibility for the Future”

DHL has allocated a budget of 7 billion euros to be used by 2030 to achieve its goal of being a green logistics and climate-neutral company. Expressing that they feel they have a special responsibility for the future to create and expand the value chain within the framework of the logistics sector, Deutsche Post DHL Group CEO Dr. Frank Appel shared his thoughts on green logistics. Beginning his speech by stating that green logistics reduces the damage to the environment to the lowest levels in all transportation modes, Appel also stated that green logistics activities reduce carbon emissions. Appel continued his words as follows: ‘’ Deutsche Post DHL Group is at the forefront as a global transportation company that pioneers the logistics industry in green logistics and develops inspiring activities in this direction. As the leading company in our sector, we are proud of the activities we carry out to bring people together around the world and to develop around the world. The logistics industry has a special responsibility for the future in creating and growing the value chain. The reason is pretty clear: Realizing a sustainable economy is not possible without sustainable logistics. At this point, if we have a focus on ensuring climate-neutral transportation, the development of sustainable fuels is a must. Fortunately, studies on carbon-neutral fuels have been increasing rapidly in recent years. We have many potential sustainable fuels that could be alternatives. These fuel alternatives range from those we know well, such as biofuels and hydrogen, to less familiar options such as synthetic fuels’’.
