Earthquakes, which caused great destruction, took place in about ten provinces with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, centered in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş. People from all walks of life, from our citizens to public institutions, from non-governmental organizations to business life, mobilized to send aid to the region, which was devastated due to these earthquakes, which were described as "the disaster of the century". However, in the following process, criticisms about whether these aids collected for earthquake victims reached the right addresses formed the agenda. Interviews were held with the representatives of the logistics sector to discuss these issues that came to the agenda in terms of logistics. On the subject, Netlog Head of Commercial Operations Olcay Server underlined that the delivery of aid materials is as important as their delivery and said: ‘’ The main need is for the aid to be sustainable. This can only be achieved through planned logistics activities. Because the need for assistance in the region will not cover a five-day period, but a much longer period of time. In this respect, if the logistics planning of the aid to the regions is not made, the aid in question will be a reason for wasting resources ‘’. The presenter also underlined the need to mobilize all logistics channels for the aid collected to reach the earthquake-affected areas and continued as follows:’’ All modes of transport perform purpose-built services. Planning by separating preservation and inventory is seen as a critical success factor. Seaway and airway are the healthiest methods for evacuating people from the region. Because removing these evacuations from the highway, which heavy vehicles have to use, will greatly relieve the traffic on the highway’’.
Regarding logistics activities for the earthquake, Horoz Logistics Domestic Group President İlker Özkocacık pointed out that logistics works are everything for now and said: ‘’ We were informed that many trucks from Turkey were loaded at full capacity and delivered to the same region. In this respect, logistics is the most important thing in the region. After the problems experienced at these points, measures were taken over time. At the checkpoints on the route along with the city entrances, the loads of the trucks were inspected and their contents were examined. If there are excess products for the coordination center, a system has been established to ensure that these products are sent to other coordination centers’’.
