Mobilization for Investments from Logistics Firms

After Turkey started to come to the fore in the global supply chain, logistics companies started to take action. After Turkey's geographical opportunities due to its location have been felt so strongly for the first time, logistics companies are utilizing this advantage by trying to grow and invest. After 8 years, Turkish-owned fleets carry out activities to grow again, while investments continue rapidly both in the air and on land.

While the developments between Russia and Ukraine and the effect of the pandemic caused the difference in the balances regarding the global supply flow, the trade routes were rearranged accordingly. These developments made visible the disadvantageous side of the dependence on a single country, especially for supply, and showed how valuable it is to have different routes in logistics activities. At the same time, it again showed the importance of logistics services in terms of the sustainability of commercial activities. While all these developments were taking place, the value of Turkey, which is located between Asia and Europe due to its geographical location, has increased to a degree that has never been encountered before. Logistics demand increased in transit as well as trade. As applications for digitalization increased, investments spread over a wide area such as maritime, railway and storage began to rise.

It has been seen that the area where the growth for investments in the Turkish logistics line is realized the most is the seaway. According to the results obtained from the report published by Allied Shipping Research, 34 of the 1,120 ships sold until the end of July 2022 were purchased by Turkish logistics investors. Following these sales, Turkish investors ranked 5th after Greece, China, Singapore and Switzerland.
