Many exporters, carrying out export-oriented activities, shared the impact of the slowdowns in the global economy with Dünya newspaper. Exporters stated that the negative reflections of the slowdowns, especially in Europe, on orders were much stronger in November. On the subject, Şeref Fayat, President of TOBB Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Sector Assembly, Adil Pelister, President of Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB), and Albert Saydam, President of the Vehicle Supply Manufacturers Association (TAYSAD) made the following statements:
Şeref Fayat underlines that there was a decline of more than 10% in the ready-to-wear sector in October compared to the previous year, and this situation gives a strong signal for the first periods of 2023. Fayat also stated that the effects of the recession were felt all over the world, and that the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) also declined.
Adil Pelister, who is the President of Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB), said, “It is seen that there is a decrease in the demands on a global scale. We are heading towards a global recession. As a matter of fact, this situation showed itself in the European Union. Due to the economic problems in the EU, there is a decrease in orders compared to the previous year in plastic household goods in the glassware sector”.
In an interview with Dünya Newspaper, Albert Saydam underlined the decline in orders for the coming year and said, “Nearly all European automotive manufacturers have sent us a notification to carry out our plans in this direction, expressing that they will reduce the amount of production for the new vehicles that will be commissioned in 2023 and 2024 ” he stated.
