Aras Kargo Gives Life to Saplings

Aras Kargo, Turkey's leading cargo company in carrying out activities in favor of innovation, organized a ceremony in Izmit for the planting of 16 thousand saplings, each of which included each of its 16 thousand employees, for the project We Carry the Forests to Tomorrow, thanks to its partnership with the Aegean Forest Foundation.

Sharing its first sustainability report for the logistics industry, Aras Kargo continues to focus on sustainability on various environmental issues such as reducing carbon footprint, afforestation, environment and coastal cleaning with the slogan We Carry it to Tomorrow. So far, Aras Kargo has planted more than 150 thousand saplings within the framework of afforestation practices and has thus tried to carry the forests to the future. Working in partnership with the Aegean Forest Foundation in order to realize the aforementioned project, the company donated the saplings on behalf of each of its employees and held a ceremony for the planting of 16 thousand saplings. Aras Cargo General Manager Utku Ayyarkın and Aegean Forest Foundation General Manager Perihan Öztürk attended the ceremony held in Izmit Taşköprü.

On the subject, Öztürk underlined that the partnership of NGOs, private sector and public institutions is of great importance in the fight against the climate crisis so that future generations can benefit from the opportunities provided by nature and that humanity can continue to exist. Expressing that the forest, which was created with 16 thousand saplings in Izmit Taşköprü with the initiative of Aras Kargo, offsets carbon emissions equal to 6 thousand 576 tons of carbon dioxide, Öztürk stated that the company supports this aim of leaving a more livable World to future generations. She also wished Aras Kargo to continue contributing to nature in a holistic and sustainable way. Utku Ayyarkın, General Manager of Aras Kargo, who took part in the ceremony, said the following on the subject: ‘’ With the participation of Nature Friendly Araslar, which we formed in 2014, we aim to carry what is good and valuable today to tomorrow by establishing partnerships in the field of coastal cleaning, sapling planting, carbon footprint projects and environmental activities that can benefit recycling. For this reason, we care about the protection of the environment and natural resources’’.
