It is thought that with the artificial intelligence punishment system implemented in Malaysian courts, the quality of the judiciary will increase, the backlog of cases will decrease, many cases will be solved without any cost, expensive and stressful methods will be avoided, and penalties will become more consistent. Malaysian federal authorities think that no clear determination can be made on how artificial intelligence will be used in courts.
Artificial intelligence-supported courthouse activities across the country have been tried with long-term trial activities, it has been expanded, especially in the states of Sabah and Sarawak, and the pilot application has become widespread, and it is seen that it has spread throughout the country. The system applied for artificial intelligence judgment activities is the system developed by the Malaysian public company, Sarawak Information Systems.
Judging with artificial intelligence is carried out with artificial intelligence activities within the system.
A lawyer named Hamid Ismail, who has been practicing law in Malaysia for twenty years, expressed his surprise that his client was sentenced to prison by artificial intelligence. Lawyer Hamid İsmail said that the use of untested artificial intelligence and technology in real cases before it is fully understood will cause difficulties for lawyers, judges, and other subjects of the judiciary. He also stated that before a decision is made on the use of artificial intelligence in real cases, consultations should be made with the professionals and that they acted hastily in this regard.
