 The Amount That The Bank is Obligated to Pay for A Bad Check has been Updated


With the communiqué published in the Official Gazette dated 28 January 2023, the amount that banks are obliged to pay to bearer was increased from 3 thousand 600 Turkish Liras to 6 thousand Turkish Liras.


With the communiqué published in the Official Gazette dated 28 January 2023, the amount that banks are obliged to pay to bearer was increased from 3 thousand 600 Turkish Liras to 6 thousand Turkish Liras.
A communiqué from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey was published in the Official Gazette dated 28 January 2023 and numbered 32087. The Communiqué Amending the Communiqué on the Printing Method of Check Books and the Determination of the Amount that Banks are Obligated to Pay the bearer was published with the number 2023/3 and changed the amount in the communiqué no. 2010/2.
The fourth article of the 2010 communiqué published in the Official Gazette dated January 20, 2010 and numbered 27468 stipulated that the bank would pay 3 thousand six hundred Turkish Liras to bearer due to bad cheques. With the amendment, the phrase 6 thousand Turkish Liras was introduced instead of 3 thousand 600 Turkish Liras. As stated in the Communiqué, as of January 31, 2023, the bearer of a bad check will be able to receive 6 thousand Turkish Liras per check sheet from the bank. The amount that the bank is obliged to pay to bearer due to bad checks is 2 thousand 670 Turkish Liras in 2021, 2 thousand 225 Turkish Liras in 2020, 2 thousand 30 Turkish Liras in 2019, 1 thousand 600 Turkish Liras in 2018, 1 thousand 410 Turkish Liras in 2017, 1 thousand 290 in 2016, 1 thousand 200 Turkish Liras in 2015, 1 thousand 120 Turkish Liras in 2014, and 1 thousand 45 Turkish Liras in 2013.
