Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ, who made a speech at the commission, answered the questions of the deputies on behalf of the 2023 budget.
Bozdağ, who made statements on various issues at the meeting of the budget commission, also gave information about the number of files in the judiciary. According to the statement, there are over 6 million files in Public Prosecutors' offices, over 4 million files in criminal courts, over 500 thousand files in administrative and tax courts, and over 14 million files in total.
Speaking also about international reports, Bekir Bozdağ said that the reports are not reliable, the score of countries that are far behind Turkey in terms of law is high. He stated that the World Justice Project 2022 report was funded and sponsored by many people, institutions and foundations.
Bozdağ also stated that the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights will be complied with and that Turkey's rate of compliance with these decisions is high. It was stated that Turkey complied with the ECtHR decision regarding Kavala. Drawing attention to the statistics that Turkey's rate of fulfillment of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights is 87.81 percent, Minister Bozdag stated that this rate is 79.51 percent on average for all European Convention on Human Rights member countries, and that Turkey exceeds this rate. Bozdağ also said that important reforms will be made regarding individual applications to the Constitutional Court, which will be a great gain for citizens.
Speaking about the health access of those who remain in prison, Minister Bozdağ said that a new study has been started and that the new regulation will be presented to the parliament in the near future.
