On January 28, 2023, due to the anniversary of data protection day, the conference titled "Protection of Personal Data in Turkey in the 42nd Anniversary of the Convention No. 108" was held.
A conference was held at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University on the 42nd anniversary of the "Convention on the Protection of Individuals Against the Automatic Processing of Personal Data", which was opened for signature on January 28, 1981. The conference was held at the University's Culture and Congress Center.
In 2006, with the decision of the European Council, 28 January was declared as Data Protection Day for Europe. From this date, January 28 was celebrated as European Data Protection Day. Turkey has been celebrating January 28 as Data Protection Day since 2016.
The conference, which started with the protocol speech at 11:00 on Saturday, January 28, ended at 14:30. Tamer Aksoy, Board Member of the Personal Data Protection Authority, chaired the 1st session of the conference, which was held in 2 sessions, entitled Request to be Erase from Digital Memory: The Right to Be Forgotten. In the session, the Head of Personal Data Protection Authority, Kumru Döne, Personal Data Protection Specialist Özgü Karaca Bozkurt, and Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Law Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Elif Küzeci made a presentation. The second session titled "Protection of Privacy in the Light of Developing Technologies" was chaired by Şaban Baba, a Board Member of the Personal Data Protection Authority. In the session, Bilkent University Faculty of Law Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Can Aksoy, Personal Data Protection Specialist Ahmet Said Altın, and Bilkent University Faculty of Law Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Pınar Çağlayan Aksoy made a presentation.
