The statistics, in which the mediation data for 2022 were compiled by the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, were published on the official website of the Department of Alternative Solutions.
According to the published data, the total number of files that resulted in reconciliation throughout 2022 was 234 thousand 294. This number is the second highest in history, after the number of settlements in 2019. When we look at the previous year's data, the number of files that resulted in reconciliation; 17 thousand 319 in 2015, 7 thousand 871 in 2016, 223 thousand 469 in 2017, 208 thousand 14 in 2018, 238 thousand 905 in 2019, 219 thousand 639 in 2020, 230 thousand 50 in 2021.
The data shows that 582 thousand 760 files were sent to the conciliation office in 2022; It shows that 234 thousand 294 files resulted in reconciliation, 204 thousand 706 files resulted in a negative result at the proposal stage, and 51 thousand 869 files, a compromise could not be reached because of negotiations. In addition, as of the end of 2022, there are 91 thousand 891 files whose reconciliation processes are continuing.
The report includes separate statistical data for Turkey's seven geographical regions. The report includes data on the number of files for each region that resulted in compromise as a result of negotiations and that did not reach a consensus as a result of negotiations.
According to the data, the crime with which the highest level of consensus has been reached in Turkey is the crime of willful injury, regulated in Article 86/1-2 of the Turkish Penal Code. The number of files on which a settlement was reached in the crime of willful injury is 91 thousand 152. It is followed by insults with 81 thousand 728 files and threatening crimes with 65 thousand 446 files.
