The names of lawyers and trainee lawyers who lost their lives in the two major Kahramanmaraş
earthquakes on February 6, 2023, were announced on the official website of the Union of Turkish Bar
Associations.
The Union of Turkish Bar Associations has issued a condolence notice for the lawyers who lost their
lives in the earthquakes. In the announcement, " We are in great pain... We bow respectfully before
the memory of our colleagues lost in the earthquake." expressions were used.
According to the information received so far in the announcement dated February 17, 2023, 115
lawyers and trainee lawyers lost their lives, while 2 lawyers have not been heard from yet. It is
thought that the colleagues who could not be heard may have been buried under the rubble.
The Union of Turkish Bar Associations also mentioned that there are lawyers who lost their relatives.
According to the poster shared in the announcement, the number of lawyers and trainee lawyers
registered in Hatay bar and who lost their lives in the earthquake is 64. The number of lawyers and trainee
lawyers registered in Kahramanmaraş bar and lost their lives in the earthquake is 30. The number of
lawyers and trainee lawyers registered in Adıyaman bar and lost their lives in the earthquake is 7.
The number of lawyers and trainee lawyers registered in Gaziantep bar who lost their lives in the
earthquake is 6. The number of lawyers and trainee lawyers registered with the Osmaniye bar and
lost their lives in the earthquake is 2. There is one lawyer registered with the Antalya bar who lost
their life in the earthquake. The number of lawyers and trainee lawyers registered with the Adana
bar who lost their lives in the earthquake is 4. The number of lawyers and trainee lawyers registered
with the Diyarbakir Bar Association and lost their lives in the earthquake is 3. The number of lawyers
and trainee lawyers registered with the Malatya Bar Association who lost their lives in the
earthquake is 3.
