History of the Building
It was built as the greeting room of Halil Bey during the period of Ramazanogullari Principality, located in Ulucami Neighborhood. However, due to the fact that the salt brought to the region in the last century is offered for sale here, it has started to be called "Salt Market" by the people. The building has a plan type with a courtyard, but over time, only the courtyard, the prayer room to the west and the bath adjacent to the mosque have survived. Various parts of the building have been traded at different times over the years. The shops in parcels 1 and 2 were repaired by Piri Pasha in the 1530s. In the 1960s, the remaining parts of the building were built. It was brought into its current form by the Adana Regional Directorate of Foundations between 2011-2013.
Current Status of the Building
The damaged walls of the shops in Tuzhan were dismantled in accordance with the prepared reconstruction project and rebuilt using bricks in form and size in accordance with the original. The windows of the building, which were closed in the following periods, were opened again and the window joinery was manufactured using pine timber. Horasan plaster application can be seen on the interior and exterior walls of the shops. The roofs of Arasta shops are covered with Turkish style tiles on a wooden frame. The floor coverings of the mansion building were finished with rough cut stone.
Construction Design
A small cafeteria for 8-10 people and kitchen, toilet and service units in connection with this cafeteria have been designed in the area called the independent section on parcel 1. The existing door of this independent section was used as the main entrance door. In the independent section number 2; library, exhibition area, study and rest functions are proposed.
