The Project to be exhibited in the Venue of Turkey at the 18th International Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition has been determined

The project titled "Ghost Stories: The Sack Theory of Architecture", curated by Sevince Bayrak and Oral Goktas, has been selected to be exhibited at the Venue of Turkey at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

A two-stage open call was carried out to determine the project to be exhibited at the biennial. The Selection Committee, which includes Ertuğ Uçar, Aslı CiCek, Han Tumertekin, Nevran Turan, Prof. Dr. Aysen Savas, awarded the project titled Ghost Stories: The Sack Theory of Architecture, undertaken by Sevince Bayrak and Oral Goktas, among the 24 projects participating in the call. The project will be exhibited at the Venue of Turkey at the Venice Architecture Biennale to be held between May 20 and November 26, 2023.

The project “Ghost Stories: The Sack Theory of Architecture” aims to reveal promising suggestions for the future by questioning the usual images and impressions about buildings. Based on the Sack Theory of author Ursula K. Le Guin, the content of the exhibition, inspired by the radical changes that the world of architecture has undergone in the last two decades, highlights the "ghost stories" of unused buildings. Documenting the current archive formed by these structures in many cities of Turkey and researches on how these structures, which are described as the "laboratory of the future", can be transformed are the main elements of the project.

The exhibition at the Venue of Turkey at the Venice Architecture Biennale, coordinated by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, is held under the auspices of the TR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the contributions of the TR Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Its sponsorship is Schüco Turkey and VitrA companies.
